Plagues

After the Israelites spent 400 years of bondage in Egypt, God raised up Moses to deliver the people to freedom. Moses had a brother named Aaron who God appointed to help him deal with the Pharaoh of Egypt. Moses and Aaron were told to meet with Pharaoh and ask that the Israelites be allowed to leave Egypt in order to make sacrifices to God in the wilderness. Pharaoh would not allow them to leave so God used Moses and Aaron to send the 10 plagues listed below upon the people, animals, crops, and land of Egypt. Israel was exempt from most of the plagues; However, they were affected by a few. One of the main reasons for the types of plagues that God sent was to show the Egyptians that their gods were weak and worthless.
